Max at his new
home Florida
"Max made his first real track on Sunday
November 15th.
During my  morning hunt I shot a doe on
a food plot. The doe ran off and I
heard the crash as she fell down near
my stand. I went and retrieved max
and some fellow hunters. About two
hours after the doe was shot we
arrived back at the food plot with Max. I
had one of the other hunters hold him
on leash while I went to where the deer
kicked up after being shot. There was
no blood and no splatter I walked in a
few feet and never saw blood. I chose to
use Max instead of screwing up any
scent or blood I cant see. So I called for
Max and put his working collar on him
and lead him to the area the doe was
hit. Max  immediately put his nose to the
ground and went into the woods in the
direction the doe went in. He zig zagged
back and forth and we
finally found one spot of blood as we
went in deeper. Max kept going and we
found another, the at approximately
40-45 yards in BINGO!! There was my
doe and Max lead me right to her.
Everyone was impressed  especially
with the lack of blood. There were only
two spots of blood we could see on the
way in about the size of an orange. Max
did a great job!!!"

My whole club can't believe the progress Max has made. For just
being so young when Max hits the ground in the woods he is all
business. My last trip Max had three trails with 100% success. One I
knew where the deer was and the other two I hadn't a clue. Max took me
right to them. The best was a 100 yard track through thick pine needles
and planted pines with lots of briars and thorns. He hit the trail and was
ready to go. The first obstacle was a ditch it was so steep once Max was
in I had to pitch him up the other side, from there he was great. Any time
he lost the trail he automatically back tracked, picked it up again and
was off. He took us right to the deer. He also shows his intelligence by
sitting, rolling over, and lying down all by sign commands. The whole
club loves him and he is becoming requested from other clubs in the
area.
